The architectural practice implements a multifaceted and creative design approach from projects, competitions and research studies at various scales in Germany, Italy and the USA.
The firm’s expertise in digital design and fabrication techniques represents a search into an architecture of experience, with new surfaces and skins and their materials and textures.
As part of the firm, VRoooMstudio offers consulting services in 3D texture & surface fabrication. The exploration on a wide range of materials for façade cladding, internal wall cladding and surfaces is based on competence through research and development of digital design processes and new modes of industrial manufacturing. Recent products like Hyperwave and Fluxus are a result of innovative techniques in the fabrication of tactile 3D surfaces in stone and in PU.
The office is directing a research group, a pool of leading Italian companies in the stone and marble manufacturing sector, which pioneers innovation with the support of State and Industry. Both maintain active teaching career, give lectures throughout Europe, USA and Asia, besides an ongoing participation to seminars and reviews as guest critics in several Universities.
Pongratz Perbellini are the authors and designers of the monograph on “Peter Eisenman”, in Korean Architects, KA n.156, 08/97, Seoul, Korea. Latest publication works include the contribution to the series IT Revolution in Architecture of Bruno Zevi, with the book “Natural Born CaaDesigners”, published in Italian by Testo & Immagine and in English by Birkhaeuser.
Books in progress are: “FLEXcity. New Urban Strategies for E-Densification”; “300+ Skyscrapers. Global Highrise Development”; “CyberStone”.
