“The Bank” – 77 Eighth Avenue
New York City, USA, 1997-1999
Pongratz Perbellini Architects for John Reimnitz Architect
Construction of a 41.000 sq.ft., commercial and high-end residential building in Manhattan, NYC. The Landmarks building is a 1907 Beaux-arts Bank, the former New York County National Bank. The intervention left from the existing outside shell only two Landmarks façades, which were restored with small alterations. The 6 $ million project transformed the existing volume into an 11 unit residential luxury loft condominium and 12.000 sq.ft. commercial space structure. A new two-story Penthouse behind the sightlines goes above the level of the old existing roof of the Bank.
