Morton House – project
Orange County, New York, USA, 1997

Pongratz Perbellini Architects for John Reimnitz Architect
The house is located in the Orange County forest, on an irregularly stepping ground. Suspended on pilotis, the modular, rectangular implant doesn’t touch the ground. The volume is instead “attacked” from the nature; it is broken, decomposed by intrusions (service areas, studio, and vertical connections). The pure form adapts to the uncontrolled lines of the surrounded landscape. The subtractions that characterize the section of the house evoke the process of erosion of the rock or its stratification as time goes by.
