Water of Stone
The intention of the project is to eliminate the threshold character between water and landscape that the urban Insula of S. Basilio assumed till the present time. In the area, recent harbour and industrial activities are mixed with antique, old settled textures, organically adapted with the context of Rii and Canali. The initial concept of the figure of stoned water suggests the “mise en scene” of the buildings in the area on a fluid field: the water becomes the city. Exterior forces transform the fluid laminar flow into turbulence with vertices, different directions, smooth lines and variable curves.
